Some brands are very smart they moved part of their inventory out of SH before the lockdown.

Does such a release cheapen the Omega brand or is it an affective way to reach more watch enthusiast?

Omega and Swatch and tie-up Speedmaster which is the product of collaborations between a luxury and a street brand was released recently. What is the most surprising is the price is $260, reasonable pricing considering the original is $7000. / reasonable pricing as the usual Speedster is sold at 7k.

 I think that the target customer of this jointly-designed watch would be gen Z or ultimate fans for those two brands.

As a lower price product with a famous luxury watch brand, Speedmaster definitely attracts some young consumers who can not afford luxury goods (by themselves/unless it is a gift from family). Once some of youngsters / young people wear the stylish watch with an accessible price , their friends and classmates are likely to follow the pace / follow the trend. Furthermore, those who are easily exposed to the hot news are active on plenty of social media platform so the buyers of fashionable goods will post photos of themselves wearing the watches and those moments will be free advertisements for brands. After that, the popularity of Omega and Swatch increase leads to more people interested in their other products.

On the other hand, the “very plastic” appearance could give Omega a negative effect / the plasticky appearance. The loyal customers pursue luxury brands because of not only brand effect but also good quality. I ,however, have the opinion that it will not hurt the stable customers of the brand because they can notice that it is just a tie-up merchandise. There are a lot of cooperations in fashion, such as UNIQLO and MARNI which are a middle-end ready to wear type brand and a luxury brand. It sparked a new series collections. The theme is universality so that the clothing patterns are floral and plaid, and the colors are full of high-saturation / and the colors are highly saturated because they will be 2022 spring and summer collections. What should be mentioned is also the price range that is about hundreds for each one which is equal with that of UNIQLO / we also need to mention that prices are similar to Uniqlo’s.
 It could be a good way for luxury brand to reach average people by moving down-market (with one product). / it could a good way for luxury brands to reach average people by offering a more attainable first entry product.

Therefore, fair price tie-up is a good kind of marketing promotion (mode) and the public will pay attention to these news rather than disparage brand value.
