Vocabulary

Appearance (n): 1-  the way a person or thing looks to other people.
E.g.: He was a middle-aged man of very smart appearance
E.g.: You can alter/change the whole appearance of a room just by lighting it in a certain way.
E.g.: There was nothing unusual about/in her physical appearance.
E.g.: He cares too much about his appearance.

Amateur (adj): 1-  taking part in an activity for pleasure, not as a job:
E.g.: She’s an amateur photographer.
E.g.: He was an amateur singer until the age of 40, when he turned professional.

Peer (n): 1- a person who is the same age or has the same social position or the same abilities as other people in a group.
E.g.: Do you think it’s true that teenage girls are less self-confident than their male peers?
E.g.: He wasn’t a great scholar, but as a teacher he had few peers (= not as many people had the same ability as him).

Peer Pressure (n): 1- the strong influence of a group, especially of children, on members of that group to behave as everyone else does.
E.g.: There is tremendous peer pressure to wear fashionable clothes.
E.g.: Teenagers experience a lot of peer pressure to start drinking before their legal age.

Cold Cuts  (n): 1- thin, flat slices of cold cooked meat.
E.g.: There were lots of cheese and cold cuts on the table.
