VIP Class Notes (Olivia)

For the first hour of the class, I tried to start conversations with Angela, to sort of break the ice and get her speak up more. I asked her about her hobbies/weekend activities, and introduced to her two phrases that she can use to help express her ideas.

my favorite____ is _____

my favorite subject in school is English

my least(i:) favorite__ is_____

my least favorite subject in school is Chinese.

I prefer__A_over _B__

= I like A more than B

We used many examples to help her become more comfortable with the expressions, in terms of food/colors/school subjects

Vocab that we touched on include, the ones that she didn’t know are the ones with Chinese next to them:

watermelon, pineapple, strawberry, tomatoes, eggplant, hotpot ç«é”…, swimming, basketball, tennis, English, maths, Chinese, geology- 地ç†, Japan, Disneyland in Japan,  chillies, waxberry æ¨æ¢…, anteater – 食èšå…½, snack 零食  – candy, chocolate, ice cream, potato chips, nuts, walnut, jelly, chewy, shopping mall, hot spring

For the second part of the class, we read through a book called Armadillo’s song, this is of Angela’s picking,

we went through the reading of the book, learned new vocabularies and we did some role-play at the end.

As we become more familiarized with each other, Angela spoke up more often and was more interactive.

For the new vocabulary, we practiced spelling and pronunciation, could consider quiz her on these words in the next session.

Armadillo, forest, hailstorm, sharp, shell.

well done Angela, I think you did great this time and hope to see you again.
