Homework

What do you think of the new North Face x Sacai collection? Why do you like it? Can “high fashion” really be combined with outdoor wear? Can you really wear these clothes outdoors? Are these just fake outdoorsmen? Is it all just for show? Is this just how people are? Is it interesting anyway??

Vocabulary

Mood – how you feel; happy, sad, angry, anxious, etc.
In the mood for [something] – to want to do something (right now)
e.g. I am not in the mood to go shopping today.

Plan (noun and verb) – 计划
e.g. I don’t plan to stay here and walk around the mall tomorrow.

Get to know – to do some research until you are more familiar with something; to talk with a person and learn about them
e.g. Tonight I will do some research to get to know the many brands that are part of this group.
e.g. I was glad to have some time

Rhino – an animal with a big horn on its nose 犀牛

Search – to try to find something specific
e.g. I’m searching for the name of the person I need to talk to.
Research – to look around and try to learn about something
e.g. Tonight I will research the company so that tomorrow I can ask good questions.

Pajamas – 睡衣
e.g. One set of pajamas from this brand costs Y20,000!!

Ungrammatical – something that does not have good structure, bad 语法

Design – how you make one thing
Style – the feeling of many things
e.g. I like the design of this purse.
e.g. I like the North Face style.

Combine – to put two things together
e.g. I really like the way that North Face combines the outdoor style with good fashion.

Each – means “every” but focuses on individuals, single things
e.g. Each flavor of ice cream is good in its own way.

Flavor – 味道

High Fashion – the best, most expensive levels of fashion
e.g. Sacai and North Face cooperated on a new collection targeting high fashion for the youth.

Wide – from one side to another, very long
Narrow – from one side to another, not very long
e.g. I feel that the bottom of the Sacai jacket is very wide, very open.

They’re not only outdoor brand, they have fashion horizon – They not just an outdoor brand, they also push the boundaries of outdoor fashion

Speaking exercise

Brand group. They lots of brand for clothes, jeans or style brand. Bigger group in China. But they have brands not famous. Marketing, still marketing, but I don’t know this position is for brand in marketing or e-commerce marketing, so I will to ask the details. Tonight I will searching their group and their brands preparing for tomorrow interview. If tomorrow we have a great talking and the salary is suitable, I will take the offer. Up to now I have two offers in my hand, luxury brand but they sell 睡衣. And another offer the company is a brand in China, a small company. Rapper-style clotheses.


I will interview tomorrow with a brand group. They have /own lots of clothes brands, for clothes, including jeans or style brands. They are a bigger group in China than my last company, but though they have many brands they are not famous. I applied for the marketing department, still marketing, but I don’t know if this position is for brand in marketing or e-commerce marketing, so I will have to ask for the details. Tonight I will researching their group and their brands to prepare for tomorrow’s interview.
