Next Class Focus

Do more conversation and focus on how different verb tenses can change the meaning of a sentence.
e.g. Today we talked about “have done” vs. “doing” vs. “done”

Vocabulary

Strength – if you can move heavy things
e.g. I lift weights to increase my strength.

Flexibility – how easily you can move your body parts, how far you can move them (like someone who does yoga and can put their feet over their head)

Careful vs. Caring – “careful” is to try to do something right, correctly; “caring” is someone who tries to do what is good for other people, to want to be helpful
e.g. When you cut vegetables, you have to be very careful so that you don’t hurt yourself with the knife.
e.g. He really cares whether I get better at playing the piano because he is a caring teacher.

The – we use “the” when are talking about something that we know, something specific

Promotion – when you stay at the same company but you get a better job and higher pay, 晋升
e.g. Irene had to go in on a Saturday to take a promotion test.

Recover – to get back what you had; to get healthy after being sick or injured
e.g. I left my book in a taxi, but I was able to recover it by asking the driver later.
e.g. I had a cold last week, but after resting and drinking lots of juice I recovered.
Improve – to do something better than you did before
e.g. If I spend lots of time practicing the piano, I will improve quickly.

Coach – someone who teaches others how to do sports, usually group sports
e.g. Basketball coach, soccer coach, etc.
Trainer – someone who helps you to improve your body individually
e.g. Personal trainer (in the gym)

— The first tells me what you did only this week (what you already did)
— The second tells me what you usually do.

Who does what to whom?

People – this word can be used to talk about what is usually true without talking about any person
e.g. When people are tired, they often drink coffee (this is something that many persons do)

Building a sentence:
I went (where?)
I went to my company (why?)
I went to my company to take a promotion test (why?)
I went to my company to take a promotion test to get a better position (when)
This morning I went to my company to take a promotion test to get a better position (what else did you do?)
This morning I went to my company to take a promotion test to get a better position and then I went to get a coffee with my friend.

When you use “have” with a verb, it is the past, but related to the present.
I have been practicing with this coach for one year.

— You did it for one year, but I don’t know when. It could have been until now, five years ago, ten years ago, etc.

I work out in the gym two times in this week (twice), but my coach told me he want to leave this gym, so I am very disappointed. He is very kind. He is carefully. I practice pilates, like yoga. When the people injuring pilates will help them improve. I maintain my figure by doing pilates. Individual class. Last year I practicing with this coach, already one year. The gym is near my work, I find the gym on internet.
