Vocabulary

career -职业

e.g. Phoebe is considering a new career as a “charm” expert!

mix – recipe – what are the things you need to put together to make something – combination

e.g. To make chocolate chip cookies you need a mix of chocolate, dough and sugar.

healthy mix – ingredients or things that go well together or mix well together

e.g. I think this job is a healthy mix of a good salary, good students, and an amazing boss.

reinventing yourself – to make yourself again – to choose a new identity and become a new person

“becoming who I am” / “become who you are”

“I agree to some extent” – I agree with you at least a little bit – I agree with some of what you are saying  – I agree with you up until a point

“I can’t agree with you anymore” – this means I 100% agree with everything you are saying

“I couldn’t care less” – this means I don’t care about what you saying

cowardice  / to be a coward – 懦夫

e.g. Usually I don’t make the decisions I know I have to make because I am a coward...because I am acting cowardly….I have cowardice.

charm – 魅力

e.g. Phoebe is a charming person!

“read a person” / “read people” / “I’m a good read of people” – you can look at a person and very quickly, without even talking, you can understand them

e.g. If you can read people and charm others, money will come your way!

“I cast many lines” / “I have many irons in the fire” – you never know which one will be successful!

inner quality / in-born quality / naturally

e.g. Some skills you can learn, others are in-born.

“like a lion in the grass” – “like a snake in the grass” – 难得糊涂 

infect – to spread sickness and disease – 感染

infectious personality 

e.g. She has an infectious smile – every time she was happy – the whole office was happy.

mood – 情绪 – volatile mood (always goes up and down)

e.g. My mood is always changing.

Grammar

Take away THE + make the noun PLURAL

if he don’t want to do the homework – if he doesn’t want to do his homework

the boy is different from girl –  boys are different from girls

new colleague / new colleagues
