The name of one of my favorite books of the past two years is “遥远的救世主”. The main character in the book is a man with a unique personality. He does not love money, but is very talented in making money. He gets rich by stocks and investing.

His only hobby is listening to music. He has an expensive and luxurious sound equipment. Beyond that, he has no interest in consumption. His residence is also a very ordinary apartment, with some necessary facilities and furniture.

The two plots in the book impressed me deeply. One was that his father was very sick. The doctor said that his father’s life could be prolonged by a few months if expensive imported drugs were used, otherwise he could die within a few days. Both he and his brother were present at that time. Hearing the doctor’s words, his brother was agitated and suggested taking the medication immediately, but he calmly said no because he believed that living without quality of life was meaningless and would only increase his father’s suffering. Eventually, his brother was convinced by him.

He knew the mission was really dangerous and could result in the death of her, but he didn’t stop her because he knew she was a person with a sense of justice and mission, so he was rather ready to lose her. Eventually his girlfriend died while apprehending the criminal.

It sounds like this man is a bit cold, perhaps because of his calm character he can be so successful in stocks and investments.
