Vocabulary

horrible: very bad; unpleasant
e.g., the colour of the wall looks horrible.

ugly: not beautiful
e.g., this city has the ugliest buildings I have seen.

mountain: 山

lots of > some > a few>= a couple of

ski: 滑雪
e.g., he goes skiing there every year.

flu (influenza) n. 流感
e.g., he has not come to work because he has the flu.

receptionist: 前台

closet/wardrobe: place to store clothes

dining room: room where you eat meals

armchair: 扶手椅

fridge: 冰箱

television: 电视; telephone:电话; telegraph: 电报

garage: 车库

bookcase: 书架; phone case: 手机壳

furniture: 家具

Pronunciation

waiter: w-ei-t-uh

quiet: kw-a-i-uh-t

kitchen: k-i-ch-en, not k-e-chen, or k-ee-chen

ocean: o-sh-en 海洋

garage: note the different ways to pronounce it

shower: sh-au-uh

bedroom: pronounce dr together

necklace: n-e-k-l-uh-s

Grammar

has/have got something= have something

she doesn’t have = she hasn’t got

does she have…? = has she got…?
