Vocabulary

miracle ( when something really amazing happens, its so good its very unexpected)

e.g Its a miracle my mum agreed to let me go to the movies with my friends by myself.

manufactured ( if something is manufactured, it is made in a factory)
e.g The car parts were manufacture in Korea.

Dilemma (fancy work for problem/situation)

contortionist (is someone who is extremely flexible)

sneered (mean smile)

As the audience tittered (someone is unwrapping a lolly, people as whispering, maybe someone is eating something very crunchy).

tedious (if a task or activity is boring and detailed we can say its tedious)

Simile/Imagery

For example
The sun is like a golden plate

“Olaf’s comrade waved the big noodle over his head, and the Baudelaires and their coworker heard a limp swishing sound as it moved slowly through the air, as if a large earthworm were crawling nearby.”

The author is using a simile and imagery to paint a picture in the reader’s mind.

It was a snowing and dark when I arrived home, as I opened the door I felt welcomed home by the rush of heat, light and warmth. I suddenly realised how hungry I was when I smelled roast duck wafting from the kitchen.
