Vocabulary

tie: a long, thin piece of material that is worn under a shirt collar, especially by men, and tied in a knot at the front 领带

content: the things that are in something

eg. A summary of the book’s contents

eg. The bedroom’s contents have all been packed.

content (2): the ideas, facts, or images that are in a book, article, speech, movie etc. 内容

eg. In terms, of content, the article is good, but it is written poorly.

eg. The children aren’t allowed to watch movies with violent content.

event: anything that happens, especially something important or unusual

eg. This year’s Olympic Games will be the biggest ever sporting event.

article: a piece of writing on a particular subject in a newspaper or magazine, or on the internet

eg. There was an interesting article in the newspaper yesterday.

discount: a reduction in the usual price 打折

eg. They offer a 10% discount for students.

Now, because my company is near my home, I don’t have time to read the news. When I watching the news last night, it was about Shanghai event. I really want to go to the expo but I can’t do that because you should book the tickets online but I miss it. I don’t like the entertainment kind of news. I don’t care about them, who marry who. When I was a teenager, I really love the sports news, I will buy the magazine and read in class.
