Today we focused on:

“Mrs Patty is Batty” Chapters 6-8

Vocabulary

creepy crawlies – any small creatures that may be considered frightening or unpleasant (spiders, worms etc)

accumulate – to gradually get an increasing number of sth/gather together

ex. It took him 4 hours to accumulate a full bag of candy from trick-or-treating.

ex. Rubbish accumulated on the beach because tourists litter too much.

loony – a mad or silly person

ex. The kids were frightened when they saw their loony neighbour.

yank – to pull something hard and quickly

ex. Mr Short who is always angry and impatient yanked the plug out and the computer screen went blank.

ex. She yanked open the cupboard door and all the plates fell out.

hideous – ugly, unpleasant or disgusting to look at

ex. That creature is the most hideous thing that I’ve ever seen.

ex. His smile made him look very hideous.

Speaking exercise

Maybe meeting the Halloween monster.
