Today we focused on:

Reading “Mrs. Patty is Batty” 5-6

Vocabulary

competition – a game/event in which people try to win by beating the others

cat café – a coffee shop with many cats for petting

from what I can remember/from memory  

slip – to slide on the ground by accident

ex. Emily slipped on the ice.

ex. You don’t want to be slipping in the mud with that costume.

trip – when you step on something and fall

ex. She tripped on the bucket of dirty water.

ex. The football player got a yellow card for trying to trip his opponent.

accumulate – to collect a large number of things over time

ex. AJ and his friends secretly accumulated a pile of sweets at the playground.

ex. That woman’s house is full of rubbish that she accumulated over the years.

instead – in place of someone or something else

spooky – scary/ghostly

ex. spooky haunted house

Grammar

I will have a party at 30th May.

ex. I was supposed to have my birthday party this weekend. Instead, I have to go to a piano competition.

ex. Would you like tea instead? I’m out of coffee.

ex. She’s thinking of dropping art class and taking up acting instead.
