Vocabulary

label – a word or phrase that is used to describe a picture

ex. Label the picture using the words in the letter.

instructor – teacher

ex. My ski instructor is a retired sportsman.

manage – to be able to do something difficult

ex. It took one day for him to manage to finish all of his work.

ex. I won’t manage to make it on time!

ski lift – a rail with many chairs that can carry you up the mountain to ski

impressed – cause someone to admire and be proud of you

ex. Wow, I’m impressed with your ability to open locks.

ex. All the others were impressed with how many toys she had.

resort – a place where many people go for a rest or to do sports

ex. Sanya has many beach resorts so it is very popular.

ex. I like to stay at the holiday resort to ski.

equipment – all the things you need to do something

ex. ski equipment/cooking equipment

half-pipe – U-shaped ramp used in skiing, snowboarding or skateboarding

beginner – someone just starting out a new skill (piano/skiing/language)
