Today we focused on:

Modal Verbs

Vocabulary

slip – to fall because the floor is wet or stood on something

watch out/beware – be careful of

remote control – something that controls a machine (ex. television)

Grammar

modal verbs – for giving advice

should/could/have to/need to/must + eat/sleep/drink/tell (don’t change the verb ending)

can/can’t – 30%

should/shouldn’t – 80-90%

must/mustn’t – 95% – 100%

ex. You can’t/shouldn’t/mustn’t hit your friends in school.

can – 30% (yes, but you don’t have to)

need to – 40-50%

have to – 60%

should – 80-90%

ex.I can/have to/should eat vegetables.

ex. I need to/should/must have money.

Don’t play tennis here. – this sounds stronger

You shouldn’t/mustn’t play tennis here

Only use the verb for instructions 

Run when you see fire – this sounds stronger

You should/must run when you see fire

Speaking exercise

You must told him he shouldn’t tell lie.

You must/should tell him, “You shouldn’t lie!”

You should told him, “Don’t break anyone’s toys.”

You should tell him, “Don’t break anyone’s toys.”
