Vocabulary
spluttering – to speak in a quick and confused way, making short noises because of surprise or anger
ex.
mischievous – naughty, badly behaved
ex. Anna can be very mischievous when she doesn’t want to read.
shriek – to scream in a high pitch voice
ex. Mrs Jenkins shrieked the moment she saw Bruno the mouse.
triumph – a big win
ex. Boy and his grandma left the hotel in triumph after they got rid of all the witches.
ex. That statue was built to celebrate King Arthur’s triumphs.
spikes – a sharp pointed needle
out of whack – out of order; not working
ex. All the witches had massive overdoses which threw the alarm clock out of whack.
