What difference in values between Shanghainese and people from other places seem shocking to you?

I think it’s hard to tell them apart in only several sentences. Sometimes people value not only depends on the place they live in, their ages, education, family environment and life experience also have great impact on them. However, people from other places still have some typical impressions to me, especially people from north of China, they are more likely open-minded, and they tend to say something directly if they have some thoughts in their mind. Shanghainese especially young people are not willing to speak up in the public or directly. On the other hand, many old Shanghainese tend to speak up in some situations. So it’s an controversial topic if some people want to discuss about it deeply.

However, there are quite a few cultural differences between people from different places/people from other places show different personality traits in my opinion. Especially people from North of China, they are more likely to be open-minded and they tend to say things directly if they have certain thoughts in mind. Shanghainese people especially young generations are not willing to speak up in public or directly. However, many old Shanghainese people tend to speak up in some situations. So it is a controversial topic to discuss on deeper levels.
