In China，parents still treat their adult children as “kids”and take care of everything. In western countries，when you are 18 years old，parents will “let you go”. I think it is because that chinese people believe in the confucianism in their deep hearts though they don’t think they believe in any religions. Confucianism thinks that people should be kind with eveyone，children should obey their parents’any arrangments and they should raise and take care of each other during their whole life，or they would be regarded as unethical. But for western people，they believe in that eveyone is epual and independent. Parents take responsibilities of raising and educating their children，but when the children are 18 years old，they will let them “free”，which means that they will treat their children as an independent adult and the children should take responsibilities for their own behavious. It is hard to say which one is correct，it just depends on different culture and believes，and they both have their own values to make people follow.

But for western people，they believe that everyone is equal and independent. Parents take responsibility to  raise and educate their children，but when the children are 18 years old，they will let them be “free” / leave the nest，which means that they will treat their children as independent adults and the children should take responsibility for their own behaviour. It is hard to say which one is correct. It just depends on different cultures and beliefs，and they both have their own values which people adopt.
