It is evident that the figure for those who speak Chinese as their mother tongue reach incredibly high 900 million, making it most widely used language all over the world. However, Arabic and Portuguese native speakers only account for nearly 10 percent of all and a similar pattern can be found in non-native speakers with 24 million and 10 million people respectively.
When it comes to the statistics of speakers as an additional language, there is an opposite trend. Specifically, English has become the most prevalent language of which users stood over 600 million, in stark contrast to 339 million with regard to native speakers. The figure for those who speak Chinese as their second language slumped to relatively low 190 million, being surpassed by English.
