It was a very meaningful Chinese National Day for me since my little brother got married. I had been to many weddings as a guest, but I was not very involved. For this one, I was a big part of it. The wedding lasted five days. The first four days was arranged to treat all the relatives, friends and workmates of our parents’ and my brother’s. We rented tables, dishes, chopsticks and catering company who helped us to prepare food for the guests. We also invited one of our distant relative who was good at cooking food by using the “big pot†to prepare food for relatives and neighbours. There were hundreds of people we treated each day, though it was very tired for me, I was still glad that I could learn many Chinese traditional wedding customs from it. Our close relatives had face paint and did the “Yang-ge†dancing to celebrate and welcome the new bride. The old word said, “people should not let the bride’s feet touch the ground before she arrives at the groom’s homeâ€, so my father and my brother took the bride by a wheel barrow which was a very old Chinese tool and always used to transporting heavy thighs in the old days. The whole wedding was full of happiness and fun, and my families were all satisfied of it.
