Be honest, i don’t often watch historical films because sometimes the theme is too heavy for me. Last week Nemo suggested me to watch Empire of the Sun which is directed by Steven Spielberg, and starring Christian Bale who now is a famous actor . He had a perfect performance in Batman.
The story is happened at 1941. Jim, a 10 years old English boy who is born in shanghai.His family was rich. Jim had a dream of becoming a fighter pilot.When World War II broke out, the Japanese occupied Shanghai. It was so poor that Jim was separated from his family and sent to the Japanese concentration camp.But he saw the fighter which is his favourate. More than three years of life in the camp made the naive Jim a bit more sophisticated.He learned to “do everything for food” which is the truth of the camp.But he still tried to help everybody who need help and known a Japanese boy who is like flighters as him.
More than three years, Jim spent the hardest days of the camp with his flying dream until the end of World War II. Eventually he reunited with his beloved parents.
