The world has been witnessing a booming and emerging growth of the media. Whatever you do, people rely so much on the media that there would be a incredible effect on our lives without it. As a matter of fact, people now are likely to give up and be unable to escape the influence of the media. While living in a media rich society, there is the notable prons and cons to be discussed.
Undoubtedly, the media is the marvelous work of human intelligent which operates in the same way as a platform to call on everyone on the earth for the purpose of exchanging ideas, acquiring information, making friends, etc. The appearance of media lead directly to a revolution of the intermedium of information. Just with a digital screen rather than newspaper, books and paper, people are expected to keep in touch with a broader world filled with more information. It is true that the media is a noble contributor for human progress.
Inversely, too much dependence on the media is supposed to be detrimental. It’s reported that a American scientist recently released his research on how smart phones influence the growth of children. In the past decades, he had kept track of the lives of two groups of children 50 each with the first group using their smart phones like an ordinary child and the other being kept away from smart phones. Twenty years passed, children in the first group were all admitted to the university and 16 of them were granted a full scholarship, while almost all children in the second group fail to enter into the university. Obviously, the side-effect of the media is the distraction of attention and people, as a consequence, find it more difficult to focus on doing things.
In conclusion, it is impossible to escape from the influence of the media nowadays. Now that we have already noticed the negative effect arising from it, what we need to do is to take measures to take advantage of the media more effectively and efficiently.
