Writing exercise

I have been practicing belly dance for many years. I think it is a very useful way to relax and keep fit. Every time when I talk this hobby with others, they are always very surprised. Different from ballet, which is thought to be very elegant, people have the common concept that belly dance is sexy because usually dancers are wearing very few clothes, shaking booty and shimmy hips.

I think this is a misconception. Belly dance has a very long history and is a traditional dance oriented in Middle East and West Asia. The purpose of practicing belly dance at that time is to help women give birth. You can take up belly dancing at any age. Practicing belly dance does well to your healthy because 1) it involves sophisticated moves, each requiring you to isolate one or more muscles; 2) it improves your flexibility and strength, better balance and coordination and 3) it burns a lot of calories to keep you losing weight.

I am very happy that I have been insist on this dance for many years because of not only the improvement of physical condition but also the friendship I have obtained.

I have been practicing belly dance for many / several / a number of years and I think / reckon / believe / it’s my opinion that it / which I think / because I think is a very useful / great / super effective way to relax and keep fit. Every time I talk about / discuss / mention this hobby with others / other people ask me about it / it comes up in conversation, they are always very surprised / taken aback / they always have a lot of questions. Different from ballet, which is thought to be very elegant, (belly dancing is commonly believed to be sexy due to the fact that dancers usually…) people have the common concept / people commonly believe / it is a common misconception that belly dancing is sexy because usually dancers are wearing very few clothes / skimpily dressed / lightly clothed / dancers often wear revealing clothing, shaking their booties and shimmying their hips.

I think this is a misconception. Belly dance has a very long history / goes way back and is a traditional dance originating in the Middle East and West Asia. The initial purpose of practicing belly dance at that time / back then was to help women give birth / through child birth. You can take up belly dancing at any age. Practicing belly dance benefits / is good for your health because 1) / firstly it involves sophisticated moves, each requiring you to isolate one or more muscles; 2) it improves your flexibility and strength, better balance and coordination and 3) it burns a lot of calories to keep you losing weight / to keep you toned (less fat more muscle)

I am very happy / pleased / proud of myself that I have been insisting on this dance for many years because of not only the improvement of my physical condition but also the friendships I have gained / made / obtained.
