Writing exercise

Many childhood diseases can now be prevented through the use of vaccines.

Should parents be made by law to immunise their children against common diseases or should individuals have the right to choose not to immunise their children?

You should use your own ideas, knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

The world has been witnessed a particularly huge amount of deadly diseases occurring in childhood being eradicated with the assistance of vaccines in the past several decades. As a result, whether parents are under a mandatory obligation to have their children immunized has been a heated discussion. From my own perspective, it is parents’ freedom to decide whether their children should be immunized,
What drives me to support this opinion arises directly from the quality of vaccines. Recently, a breaking news has again captured the attention of the public to the issue about vaccines. It was reported that a Chinese bio-medical company had been found producing counterfeit vaccines which had been delivered to numerous provinces and vaccinated by millions of patients and children throughout the country. It is not the first time that the scandal regarding vaccines has been exposed in China. However, the Chinese government takes no action to prevent it from happening repeatedly, which bitterly disappoints the public. The government need to realize that immunizing people with counterfeit vaccines undoubtedly amount to killing them.
Furthermore, it is argued that whether some vaccines should still be put into use today. As we all know, some common diseases like smallpox has been extinguished. There is no point having children being vaccinated against these kinds of diseases. Thus, parents are supposed to have the right to choose not to immunize their children.
From all above, we can easily reach the conclusion that giving more freedom to parents to determine to immunize their children or not will lead to a better consequence.

If the basic freedoms of parents are withheld, the ramifications would likely be to the detriment of both parents and their offspring as a collective unit.
