Smart English – Successful in Life

Some people fail in school, but end up being successful in life.
Why do you think that is the case?
What is the most important thing to success in life?

Getting a good scores in schools doesn’t mean that they will end up a success in life, as school life is only a quarter of most people’s life, which is limited and it only defines a student’s abilities by their exam results and performing. School offer a standard rules and require student to following the instruction, with teaching being over simple and not teaching the real skills they need in life. There are many knowledge and abilities that is outside of textbook, but crucially important for each individuals to achieve success, because each individuals are different and with different talents to achieve success. Some people have problem in reading or speaking, however they can be good at computer skills and programming, which doesn’t need any of reading or speaking skills to design a good software. Some children can be good at communication skills, but may not be good at memorizing and doing exam. Also, as individual grown older, schools will be less influence on people’s life because they will forget what they have learned in schools and learn new things from society.

There are many things to define success in life, and it can means differently to each individuals. A lot of time the word “success” is a comment by other people, which they care a lot and wish to have this compliment or recognition. However if each person clearly know what they would like for their life, and for the benefits of the society, there is no much different if they have the compliment of success from others. A person can be success, even if no one sees it or understand you. The media and society are sharing a value of success, which may not be true to everyone, such as rich and famous or a happy marriage. For me, if an individual can live out true self, and use the talent to benefits the society, that’s a real success in life.

A lot of knowledge and abilities are outside of textbooks, but are crucially important for each individual to achieve success, because each individual is different and uses different talents to achieve success. Some people have problems in reading or speaking, however they are able to excel at / they may be good at computer skills and programming, which doesn’t need any reading or speaking skills to design a good piece of software. Some children may be good at communication / have developed communication skills, but may not be good at memorizing and doing exams. Also, as individuals grow older / age / mature / grow up, schools will have less influence on their lives because they will forget what they have learned  and instead, learn new things from society.

For me, if an individual can live as their true self, and use their talents to benefit the society, that’s a real success in life.
