Vocabulary

quote – sth sb said / a well know thing sb said
eg. to quote the man directly – “I am a good man” 

paradox – when 2 statements are both true but cannot exist / be true at the same time

bias / biased – the opposite of neutral / objective 
eg. some people are biased towards their own country, religion etc.

company founded / idea founded / argument founded

come to be / shaped from / based on / originated from 

portray – to communicate / express a character or way of being
eg. the actor portrays the character very well
eg2. the teacher should portray himself as a trustworthy individual

contradiction / contradict – when 2 things “argue” with each other / cancel sth out 
eg. his attitude contradicted what he said about himself

intervene – interrupt / stop by going in / getting involved
eg. the policeman saw the 2 men fighting and intervened

valid – accepted (with SOME value)
eg. that is not a valid argument

undermine – to make sth have less value / be less worth sth
eg. your dirty hair and clothing undermines your professionalism
