We decided to discuss some new topics today.  Out with the old, in with the new!

First, we spoke about computers.

Next, we spoke about farming.

Vocabulary

PACKED – very full.  The subway was not packed on my way over.

SALAD DRESSING  – liquid topping for salad to add flavor.  It usually has many calories.

BAY AREA  – city area around San Francisco, USA

SILICON VALLEY – name given to the high-tech region, and surrounding cities, that have spawned the computer boom

ACCURACY –  percentage of getting this correct

WARRANTY – the seller of a product agrees to make fixes for a specified amount of time after purchase

SHOULDER THE RESPONSIBILITY – this is to accept no limits for getting something completed

ACCEPT THE PRESSURE – understanding that completing something takes a strong work ethic

STATE-OF-THE-ART – The most up-to-date technological advancement

DIRT/SOIL – ground stuff for planting

ORGANIC – food grown without chemicals or additives

CERTIFICATIONS – special acknowledgment of doing something a certain way

SLAUGHTERHOUSE – a place where animals that are raised for human consumption go to be processed

Toshiba has got out of the trends. – Toshiba is not a popular brand any longer.  Toshiba has not kept up with the trends.

Computers is getting smaller. – Computers ARE getting smaller.

Do you know the differences between a laptop, desktop, and tablet computers?

The engineers use desktop computers because they use lots of data and have large storage requirements.  They need a faster computer, too!
