Vocabulary

nickname: a name that people call you by, 昵称，小名，爱称
ie. My nickname is Aiai, but my full name is Chen Zi Yue.
ie. My friend’s nickname is Audrey.

first place: 一等奖
ie. I got a first place in English!
ie. It’s very hard to get first place in English!

shrimp: 虾 / shrimp-flavored: 虾味的
ie. I like to eat shrimp in the summer.
ie. I like chips of shrimp flavor/I like to eat shrimp-flavored chips.

fever: 发烧
ie. I have a fever today so I can’t go to school.
ie. When you have a fever, you need to go to the hospital/doctor’s.

hospital/doctor’s: 医院／医生那
ie. The hospital across my home.
ie. When I get a cold, I go to the doctor’s.

hypnotize: 催眠
ie. The man hypnotized Mr. Bean.

troll：怪物／魔鬼
ie. The troll scared me/the billy goats.
ie. When I’m sleeping, I dream about a troll and a boy.

strange/weird: 奇怪
ie. The troll was strange.
ie. This candy is/tastes weird.

Grammar

Past tense:

give –> gave
ie. I give my mom a red pen.
ie. I gave my mom a red pen yesterday.

go –> went
ie. I will go to school today.
ie. I went to school in the morning/yesterday.

forget –> forgot
ie. I never/sometimes/often forget to do my homework.
ie. I forgot to do my homework yesterday/last class.

chips- always plural(more than one), because you never buy one chip!
exception: My chip (one chip) fell on the ground.

The happiest thing is my teacher give me a pencil case because I have first place of English. And today I go to shopping with my mommy in the afternoon. I go to jiuguang, and I bought some chips. And it was made of shrimp. I like the candies and the cup. I think the candies will be sweet and the cup was very cute. But I forget where I put the little cup and the candy.

He did not want the billy goats to walk upon his bridge.

One day the goats were going to the hill to eat grass.
Little billy goat Gruff was the first to go upon the bridge.
Trip-trap, trip-trap! He went.
“Who is going across my bridge?” called the old troll.
“It is just little billy goat Gruff going to the hill to get fat,” said the little billy goat.

“Well, I am coming to eat you up,” said the troll.
Little billy goat was frightened.
“Oh, don’t eat me! I’m too little,” he said. “Wait for big billy goat! He is bigger than I am!”
“Well, be off with you, then!” said the strange old troll.

Soon, big billy goat Gruff went upon the bridge.
“Who is going across my bridge?”
“Oh, it is just big billy goat Gruff going to the hill to get fat, “said the big billy goat.
