Vocabulary

pull a prank

pull off – to do something that was thought to be hard

eg: I can’t believe they pulled that off, it seemed impossible.

a check up – a visit to the hospital to check your health

eg: I need to do a check up next week

punk V. – to scare them with a prank or through intimidation

eg: They punked him so hard because he fell asleep at the party.

haze V. – continuous pranks and bad treatment for the new people in the group

eg: Freshmen in high school often get hazed by the older students. Usually it’s just harmless fun, but it can go too far.

feud – a long term fight between two people or groups

eg: The feud has been going on for ages between the two families.

grudge – when you do not forgive someone for a very long time

eg: I don’t hold grudges, I just move on and forget it.

a tell (N.) – often used in poker to describe an action that gives away true intentions

eg: I knew he was lying because he has a tell, he always scratches his nose.

come clean – to admit you have done something wrong, told a lie

eg: Wouldn’t you feel better if you just come clean.

pedestrians – people walking on street or sidewalk

eg: Pedestrians should always have the right of way.
