Student Info:
Mina is a product developer in the health industry, with previous experience at a Korean cosmetics company. As an ethnic Korean, her native language is Korean, which led her to work primarily in Korean corporate environments. However, she finds these roles increasingly less challenging and is now motivated to learn English to pursue future opportunities in European or American companies.
Current Challenges:
-
Vocabulary Gap: While she can manage basic small talk with occasional grammatical errors, she struggles significantly in specific or in-depth discussions due to a lack of relevant vocabulary.
-
Weak Structural Awareness: When describing complex situations, she has difficulty organizing her thoughts logically, resulting in sentences that lack clear structure, focus, and coherence.
-
Low Exposure: English is rarely used in her daily work and personal life, limiting her opportunities for natural practice and progress.
Learning Goals:
-
Build a strong, context-specific vocabulary to handle professional and daily conversations confidently.
-
Learn to structure sentences and narratives logically, especially when explaining detailed or complex topics.
-
Develop fluency and clarity for professional settings, aiming towards a transition to multinational companies.
Recommended Plan:
-
Frequency: 1–2 sessions per week to maintain consistent progress without overwhelming her schedule.
-
Core Focus:
-
Vocabulary Building: Tailored to her field (health/product development) and common professional scenarios.
-
Sentence & Discourse Structure: Practice organizing ideas, using connectors, and emphasizing key points clearly.
-
-
Methodology:
-
Customized Material: Design lessons around her real-life needs—e.g., explaining product features, discussing project timelines, or participating in meetings.
-
Role-play & Simulation: Use scenario-based exercises (e.g., client presentations, cross-team coordination) to practice targeted language in context.
-
Immediate Feedback: Provide real-time correction on vocabulary choice, sentence flow, and logical clarity during speaking practice.
-
-
Self-study Support:
Encourage daily exposure to English through engaging content—such as short articles on topics of personal interest, English music with attention to lyrics, or re-watching previously enjoyed TV series with a focus on language rather than plot.

“No that’s all special effects” Dr F said to Fry, trying to reassure him. “who wants breakfast? I hope everyone wants eggs?” Dr F exclaimed. He walked into the kitchen holding a whisk, whistling a happy tune. He approached the box of gigantic eggs sitting on the table, definitely harmless *shmiley face*. As he was reaching towards an egg, it cracked, with a jagged line spreading like lightning. A red hatchling popped out, with it bowing down, trying to devour poor Dr F. Later that day, (once Dr F got free of the evil little birdy (how did he get free?? (it’s as large as Dr F himself! Caffenated bacon.. Baconated grapefruit! Grapefruitated coffee! and Admiral Crunch” Fry yelled at the top of his lungs, eyes wide, gobbling up as much food as possible (how did he not starve to death in the cryochamber?). “Well if you don’t like that, try some Archduke Chocular!” Leela said while revealing a box with a vampire eating chocolate printed on it. Blair
– general introduction of the student’s situation, main problems with English, why they’re here, what we suggest they focus on in class including topics, area of English and suggested homework – used to generate profile details & class focus.
Background:
Blair works in an HR department where her direct supervisor is British. Due to significant difficulty understanding his spoken English, she relies primarily on his assistant to relay instructions and facilitate daily communication, which hinders her efficiency and professional confidence.
Current Challenges:
-
Comprehension Gap: Struggles to understand her British boss in direct conversations, mainly due to limited vocabulary and unfamiliarity with natural spoken English structures.
-
Foundational Language Issues: Has noticeable difficulty with basic sentence structures and vocabulary, particularly in the accurate use of pronouns (e.g., confusing “he”/”him,” “his”/”her” ), which often leads to confusion in communication.
-
Lack of Practice: Minimal opportunity for active speaking and real-time correction in her work environment.
Learning Goals:
-
Achieve functional comprehension in one-on-one conversations with her boss.
-
Build a solid foundation in everyday English to handle common workplace and life situations independently.
-
Gradually incorporate basic business English for internal HR communication.
Recommended Plan:
-
Focus Allocation: 80% Daily Communicative English + 20% Business/Corporate English.
-
Core Method: Scenario-Based Learning starting from her actual daily life and work contexts (e.g., giving updates, asking for clarification, discussing schedules, simple HR inquiries).
-
Frequency: Two classes per week to maintain consistent exposure and practice.
-
Learning Cycle:
-
High-Quality Input: Introduce target vocabulary, expressions, and corrected structures through tailored dialogues, listening exercises, and short readings.
-
Guided Output & Immediate Feedback: Practice through role-plays and structured speaking exercises, with immediate correction and modeling, especially on pronoun usage and sentence formation.
-
Reinforcement: Summarize key takeaways and assign practical mini-tasks .
-

Mr Bean surprisedly says “I’ve got a bone to pick with you”, pointing at the boss to show he wants to fight but the boss who is angry, points at the bodyguards, showing this land is for him, instead of MB. Feeling very scared, MB doesn’t want to fight with these bodyguards who are strong, and says “we can deal with it later”. The boss who is bad tells MB that the town can’t have 2 pizza shops so I am putting you out of business, ripping the advertisement of MB’s pizza in a scary way and saying “permanently”. The scary bad boss says “men!” which means he wants the bodyguards to kill MB who is a potential threat to his business. Following that, the bodyguards punch MB suddenly however, the bodyguards’ fists hit each other accidentally so they both fall on the floor. Seeing this view the bad boss who is angry, chases MB by himself since he really wants to kill him. Although MB is as fast as a rabbit, the man also chases really fast so that means there are only 2 or 3 meters between them. Finally, they reach the balcony and MB doesn’t have any way to escape so in the really scary situation, MB throws his pizza right on the bad boss’ face, but it doesn’t work and the bad boss still wants to kill MB. Just when he is about to go up to MB, he tastes a little bit of the pizza which is on his face. He is really surprised since MB’s pizza is so delicious and says “that’s the best pizza I’ve ever eaten“.

Is there a country you’d love to visit but wouldn’t want to live in?
TBH I would love to visit NYC but I wouldn’t want to live there for a long time.
First of all, as we all know it is a big city and the financial service center, there are many famous companies such as ….
So I really want to visit and see the people how to work there… -> and experience the lifestyle there / see for myself how people live in NYC
Besides NYC is famous of its diversity. People who live there come from different cities / countries / come from all over the world.
So there must be various restaurants so I really want to go there. / You can find all the restaurants you want / It is a great place for foodies / there is huge diversity in the food industry
But I wouldn’t want to live there for a long time because the price is too high for me / the cost of living is too high.

The (financial) pressure will be too big for me.
Another reason is about the safety because there are some crimes and other issues happen everyday but I prefer to life in a much safer place. -> I am also worried about the safety, there are some crimes and I prefer to live in a safer place.

All in all I would choose to visit brazil if I had the opportunity.
-
Which do you find more appealing: Northern Europe or Southeast Asia?
It is a good question.
I feel Northern Europe is way more appealing.
First of all I have never been to northern Europe and it is in my wishlist / bucket list
I have read books about this area, so I really want to see it. (give more details)
Secondly, I feel like the people in Northern Europe are quite chill and have a sense of satisfaction but as Chinese we are always under pressure from our work / have a good work life balance / they really have time to enjoy life.
So I really want to go to experience that culture.
-
If you could only travel to one continent for the rest of your life, which would it be?
For me I would choose to travel to Australia, if I only had one opportunity, as I know the weather in Australia is really good and I love the sunshine and the atmosphere in Australia.
People are friendly and know how to have a good life so I really want to go there to experience the local culture.
Besides. Personally I really like hiking and Australia is a perfect place for that so I can explore some new areas in Australia if I have the chance.
-
If a country disappointed you, would you give it a second chance?
It is a tough question, I am not sure.
I feel like in the short term I wouldn’t give it a second chance because I have a lot of places I haven’t been to so would want to try some new places. / I would prioritize going to new places
But for the long term maybe I will go there again for business purpose or something else. / I wouldn’t exclude visiting again in the long term, maybe for a business trip or as a side trip if I get a chance.

what rides did you go on?
Because the internet pop culture hive-mind, loves to eventually turn everything we loved into horrible demons. Screw you, TexasPoonTappa. I thought it’d be interesting to take a look at the most hated characters from the office. Starting with the obscure, to the more main characters. Micheal is to present what I see as the criticism laid up the against these characters and not necessarily my own opinion. I’ll leave the commentary to you in the comments, so let’s kick it off:
They‘re making me out to be a Bond villain. So this one‘s a lay up, kind of cheating. There are a few characters who are straight up villains in the series, like Kathy Luke and Frank. And we can probably also include Jane in here too.
“I’ll go back to Jane, but I hate Jane.”
But I feel like she might land in the love to hate category.
“I’m a candle maker, but you don’t hear me bragging about it.”
These people are just filling the role of the bad guy. These are characters that were definitely ones weren’t intended to hate.
“I don’t know how we are going to get off the Afghanistan. I hate the new assistant. He’s been here for a week, I hate him.”

Blob snatched the package with his slimey tentacle from the guy who’s definitely not named Evans’ hands. “You have a future here” Mr. H.G. Blob said to the guy who’s definitely not named Evans . With Mr. H.G. Blob swallowing the guy who’s definitely not named Evans, he screamed “thank you Mr. H.G. Blob”. The scene cuts to planet express’ logo. “our crew is replaceable… your package isn’t!” the announcer announced. The video feed cut and Fry stared at his nephew. “are there really giant birds like that??” Fry questioned, eyes full of disbelief, horrified of the idea of being eaten by a giant bird.

Wang Z | 28-Jan 12:16AM | Slide 1. Hello everyone, I'll brief you on the Quizartinib PAP project design discussed with Innovent. Please see this overview slide. We've defined two scenarios for Quizartinib's PAP, based on the approval timeline of June 30th, 2026. If Quizartinib gets approved before June 30th this year, it can participate in the NIDL negotiation this year. In this case, Quizartinib will only be sold in the self-pay market for a few months. Given the high PAP cost and complex process, Innovent do not recommend launching PAP under this scenario. But if Quizartinib is approved after June 30th, in line with our base timeline, it will participate in the 2027 NRDL negotiation, with the official NRDL effective date on Jan, 1st 2028. In this case, Quizartinib will be sold in the self-pay market for over a full year, so have to implement a PAP program. Innovent has provided us with four industry-standard PAP models for this scenario. Let me share the key conclusion first in this scenario – the detailed analysis of each model will be presented in the following slides They most recommend Option 4 Overseas Tax paid Donation. This option features relatively low cost but has limited practical industry experience. The Innovent PAP team needs to further confirm its implementation feasibility. If Option 4 is not feasible, their second recommendation is Option 3 – Commercial Insurance. Innovent has comprehensive experience with this model, and it offers high implementation certainty. However, it has higher operating cost, and patient affordability is lower than Option 4. So we need to consider reducing the launch price. Option 1 has the lowest tax cost, but it cannot be implemented due to recent compliance issues with a 5A-level foundation. It also comes with high service cost, long process, and significant uncertainty. Option 2 is a model that Innovent has full practical experience with. However, in China, donation via commercial discount is deemed as sales, which is subject to domestic VAT. Innovent, as a local company, does not pay this VAT. In other words, they should pay tax, but they didn’t. So we do not recommend it for us due to high compliance risk. Slide 2. Let's move on to the PAP introduction. I’ll focus on Option 3 and Option 4, as these are the only two viable options for us. For Option 4, this PAP program has no strict restrictions on label indications or buy-one-get-one-free schemes – for example, we can set up flexible schemes like buy-one-get-two-free. On agreement signing: 1. A tripartite /traɪˈpɑːrtaɪt/ drug donation agreement should be signed by DSEU, the foundation and the import logistics party, so we’ll need DSEU’s support for this program. 2. A bilateral /ˌbaɪˈlætərəl/ donation agreement should be signed by DCSN or Innovent and the foundation. The lead time is 3 months for preparation, and this work can be carried out in parallel with the new drug import. Pros of Option 4: 13% domestic VAT is exempt. /ɪɡˈzempt/ Cons: Very few industry cases exist – as I mentioned, Innovent needs to confirm the feasibility of this program. In addition, 13% overseas import VAT must be paid. For Option 3 – Commercial Insurance, the reimbursement ratio is set at no more than 30% for the scheme. The project agreement should be signed by DSCN (or Innovent) and the TPA, such as MediTrust. We only need 1 to 2 months for preparation. Pros: This is a common practice for MNCs, and the post-treatment reimbursement process is easy for patients to operate. Innovent also has comprehensive experience with this model. Cons: The monthly treatment cost is higher than Option 4, with only a 30% discount for patients. Given the heavy financial burden on patients, we need to consider lowering the launch price. Slide 3 For Option 4, we need to pay the 13% overseas VAT, plus a service fee of around 3 million RMB, plus COGS of QZT For Option 3, we need to cover the overseas VAT, domestic VAT, and a management fee – the fee is 5% to 10% of the reimbursement amount, and Commercial Insurance Capital Cost Innovent and DS need to discuss the cost sharing. First, Innovent will calculate the costs and propose a reasonable plan for our review Slide 4 Let‘s go through the project process flow. First, let’s look at Option 3 – Commercial Insurance. In this process: DSCN ships Quizartinib to distributors at full price, and distributors then ship it to hospitals or DPT pharmacies also at full price. Hospitals or DPT pharmacies sell Quizartinib to patients at full price. . Meanwhile, DSCN or Innovent pays the capital costs and operating expenses of the commercial insurance to the TPA. Patients submit reimbursement applications, and the TPA company disburses the claim amount to the patients Slide 5 let’s move on to Option 4 – PAP Taxable Donation. We need to sign two agreements: First, a tripartities drug donation agreement signed by DS Europe, the Foundation, and the import logistics party. So we also need DSEU’ support during this process Second, a bilateral donation agreement between DSN (or Innovent) and the Foundation. Option 4 – PAP Taxable Donation Drug Flow DSEU ships the drugs to the importer, who handles the customs clearance – the overseas VAT is paid at this stage. The overseas tax-paid PAP drugs are then delivered to the foundation’s warehouse. Cash Flow DSCN or Innovent makes a donation to the foundation. | 功课 / Homework |

Wang Z | 19-Jan 6:41PM | Daiichi Sankyo is a global innovative pharmaceutical company with over 120 years of history, headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. Since entering the Chinese market in 2018, we have successfully established comprehensive operations including R&D, manufacturing, and sales. Our office is located at Wheelock Plaza in Shanghai, and our factory is based in Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park. Currently, we have over 1,600 employees in China and achieved FY24 revenue of 4.143 billion CNY (approximately USD 575 million). Our business is divided into two key segments: the Oncology Business Division (OBD) and the Primary Care Division (PCD). Enhertu and Datroway are our leading oncology products; Enhertu has been transformative for us by solidifying our position as a leader in ADC therapies. Within PCD, our top products include Mevalotin, Asmeton, Lixiana, tarlige, and the Olmetec family.Although China’s ninth round VBP(Volume-based procurement) affected parts of the PCD portfolio during FY24, PCD still contributed 71% of total revenue—led by Mevalotin (16%), Asmeton (16%), loxoprofen sodium (11%), and Lixiana (10%). Our PCD commercial team includes 410 medical representatives and 59 regional managers across 21 provinces and 35 cities—covering over 2,000 hospitals nationwide. The team focuses on therapeutic areas such as cardiovascular diseases, nephrology, urology, respiratory care, and pain management. As our clinical resources are focused on ADC pipelines, we aim to expand our PCD portfolio through license-in or co-promotion opportunities. types? 2. Wang Z | 12-Jan 6:10PM | [文件:Class 2 HW.m4a] The recording is the summary of career path, and below contains some details Self-Summary and Career Development Plan In my first role at IQVIA as a consultant, I gained extensive experience in management consulting, particularly in product and market analysis, sales forecasting, and project management. I developed the ability to quickly identify market trends and provide actionable recommendations, thhrough desk research and expert interviews, After joining Daiichi Sankyo, my responsibilities have been divided into three main areas: 1. License Out QZT: Successfully identified a suitable commercial partner for Quizartinib in China and ensured a smooth transition of the project from the BD team to the alliance management team. 2. Identify Late-Stage Opportunities: Sourced late-stage specialty medicine opportunities (Phase IIb or later) for our primary care department that are close to commercialization in China. 3. Support Early-Stage Oncology Assets Identification: Assisted the global BD team in identifying early-stage oncology assets from China. This role has allowed me to expand my skill set through hands-on BD (Business Development) work. I have enhanced key skills such as project sourcing, product valuation, deal structuring, negotiation, NBTS drafting, and IP interpretation. Additionally, this position has significantly broadened my international perspective. Each year, I participate in global conferences such as BIO America, BIO China, and BIO Europe, which keep me updated on industry trends and help me build strong industry connections. I have also had the privilege of receiving professional training from EBD Academy overseas, further enhancing my BD skills. Moreover, I regularly communicate with ASCA and global teams to align strategies and share insights. Attending the ABAF annual meeting at our headquarters in Tokyo has further enhanced my understanding of how MNC BD operations function. At the same time, this role has strengthened my ability to collaborate across departments internally while effectively coordinating with potential external partners—laying a solid foundation for successful project execution. I am sincerely grateful to both the company and my leaders for providing these valuable opportunities for growth. Weaknesses & Areas for Improvement Currently, I recognize that there is room for improvement in my English communication skills. In complex international projects, I need to further enhance my confidence, clarity of expression, and logical reasoning during discussions or negotiations. By improving these abilities, I can perform more competitively on a global stage while creating greater value for the company. Achievements 1. Successfully licensed out Quizartinib by securing a commercial partnership in China while ensuring a seamless handover of the project from BD to alliance management. 2. For both the Obesity GLP-1 project and Hyperkalemia project: ○ Developed detailed business proposals with strategic insights. ○ Gained approval and support from our China President before advancing them to ASCA approval stages. ○ Although these projects were not approved by ACA due to internal reasons, they provided valuable experience in project management that laid a strong foundation for future deals. Future Goals My short-term goal is to continue excelling in my current role while preparing myself for promotion during the next career window in April 2027 when I aim to advance to Senior Manager level. By continuously learning and taking on more responsibilities, I hope to lead challenging projects successfully. If everything goes smoothly, I plan to stay with the company in the near future; however, if progress does not align with expectations, I may explore opportunities elsewhere. In the long term, I aspire to become an independent leader who can take charge of critical business areas while driving strategic growth initiatives for the company. Conclusion I believe that by consistently improving my skills, broadening my international perspective through ongoing exposure to global markets and practices, and maintaining a proactive attitude at work—I can create more value for our company while achieving breakthroughs in my personal career development journey. This job is indeed great, and I am very grateful for the opportunities the company has provided me. I’ve learned a lot of valuable skills here. However, I hope to further expand my abilities, such as taking on more international projects or greater responsibilities, in order to achieve my long-term career goals. That’s why I’m considering my next step. | 功课 / Homework |

On new year’s eve, in a pizza restaurant where Fry works, Fry told the boy who was beside him watching him play a game, how to play it when his boss finished baking the pizza, giving it to him. Fry quickly ran out, and cycled all the way to some kind of haunted house to deliver the pizza. On the way he met his girlfriend who was in a car sitting in the passenger seat with a random boy, but his girlfriend had a new boyfriend so the girlfriend just simply broke up with Fry on the spot. When he arrived at the haunnnnnted house, he was walking upstairs, when a thief stole his bike, cycling away, saying “happy new year!”. When he got upstairs, he called out that it was a pizza delivery, when he realised something which was that someone prank called and now he was sitting in a haunted room with nobody there / alone. Suddenly, when every single country was going down from 10 to 1, Fry blew the party blower once it was right on the new year and fell into a cryochamber and got itself set to 1000 years just as the new year was beginning. When he wakes up he was so tired that he barely walked. There was a song after that which was the intro to the show. He looked outside, saying that it was great to be in the future. He walked outside of the room, and 2 doctors led him to an alien. The alien only had 1 eye and said not to ask about the eye which Fry exactly did. She told him that she was an alien and sent him to the body check room with her trying to check his DNA. After that, they went to a job service room in order to assign him a job for the future in order for him to be able to live in the future. Fry sat at the table with his feet perched just so next to his packet of fries. (lies) Leela sat next to him, arms crossed and finally Bender, who sat there as if he had no care in the world (I don’t think he has any tbh). Professor Farnsworth held a tape and announced “Tell me what you think about our advertisement! I had it aired during the superbowl.. not on the same channel though”. He inserted his tape into a VCR++ then pressed play *shmiley face*. The TV flashed a rainbow thing..y…then the advertisement started with a man who was definitely not named Evans sitting on an office chair in an outrageously tiny office with a weird green slime blob standing next to him making angwie faces. A narrator announced that interplanetary delivery’s a headache. The green slime blob slammed his fist (?) on the table and started yelling at the guy who was definitely not named Evans, and screamed “EVANS, WHERE IS MY PACKAGE FROM EARTH?!?” (this guy is on earth right now so why don’t you just go get it?). Evans started stammering “umm sir?” but then the green slime blob guy swallowed the guy that’s definitely not named Evans while Avan screeched “but my name’s not Evans!!”. “You should have used Planet Express” the green blob guy exclaimed. The scene cuts to a planet express company owned ship (there’s only one) soaring through space while being shot by extraterrestrial life. The narrator says “while other interplanetary delivery companies aren’t so brave or foolhardy, planet express makes sure your package arrives, on time, undamaged” the screen cuts to a delivery man with holes in their hazmat suit, standing right in front of an elevator. A man emerged, took the package and the moment the man left, a giant bird swooped down from the sky and abducted one of PE’s employees for no apparent reason.

要变一般疑问句,就把do或does放句首,不要忘记has变have。
变为否定也不难,don’t 或doesn’t 放在have前。
does和has不碰面,碰面就有错误现。

Meanwhile the pizza shop’s seller gets this call, preparing the pizza for MB. Being really excited / Looking forward to it, MB waits for the pizza. After that, the doorbell rings and Mr Bean runs quickly to get his pizza, paying for the cost of his pizza happily. MB’s heart is beating as fast as a rabbit’s opening the box of the pizza but he sees a disaster because it is only a teeny tiny small pizza.

The company allocated more budget to research and development.
2. To relocate (v) – to move to a different place, often for work or business reasons
The company decided to relocate its headquarters to Singapore.
She relocated to another city for a new job.
3. Birth incentives (n) – policies or benefits offered by a government to encourage people to have more children
The government introduced birth incentives such as tax breaks and housing subsidies.
Speaking exercise
What are the main demographic trends affecting developed economies today?
from my perspective the main demographic trends are divided into 3 dimensions
-aging population
-lower marriage rate
-lower birthrate
aging population has a big impact on the entire society, the government has to move / allocate more (the) ressources to the old, from education ressources which are beneficial to the young. / it has to allocate more to the old and less to the young / government have to make a choice : spend more on the old at the detriment of the young or focus on the young and lower the living standard of the old.
We are seing the marriage rate has been dropped a lot recently. There are several reasons. In the current society the financial pressure is too big on the young generation.
The housing cost and the expense of marriage would be a big pressure.
Furthermore women are more independent so marriage is not a necessity. Some would rather choose to be single than have a less than ideal partner.
Based on the above we are facing a lower birthrate nowadays.
The burden of building up a new family and raising a child would be much bigger than developing economies.
All in all I feel like the demographic impact is not a single problem, it is a complex web.
What the government should do is not only about encouragement but also practical guidelines to the society.
the government should give financial support to the young.
birth incentive and free education / no tuition.
Why does the age structure of a population matter for economic growth?
from my perspective a proper age structure is important for healthy economic growth.
First if a society has overpopulation of elderly, I mean people over 60, they don’t need to work so the government has to allocate a lot funds to pensions which diminishes the money that can be put in education or other areas.
Besides, people between 30-40 they usually have a job which means that graduates are difficult -> it is difficult for graduates to get into the workplace because there are not enough positions for them which causes higher unemployment rate nowadays.
secondly if a society has too much elderly people the middle aged people will have more pressure on raising them and it causes lower birthrate because of the pressure from both raising kids and elderly will be too high
thirdly, the young generation has more energy and ability to set up a business and ideas, but an aging society will lose the vibrance. / a young population is more likely to innovate
All in all a healthy economic growth is all about a balanced structure of population, with that a society (has a bright future) -> I mean the population structure determines the future of a society.
How does a shrinking working-age population affect productivity and innovation?
In my opinion a shrinking working age population does affect productivity and innovation
First it means unemployment is going up so people don’t have much money to spend in their daily life which causes less consumption overall.
So stores and lifestyle shops / the whole retail sectors make less profit.
More and more people will lose their jobs eventually.
Besides shrinking working age population will cause/result in less creativity in the workplace so the innovation of products cannot be developed. / there will be less innovation
all in all a shrinking working age population has a bad impact on the entire society. In that case the government should release some policies to make the society better.
