OpenF2F Class Notes 28th November (Celeste) [1]

Next class: Continue discussing and writing about part 2-3 of your course.

Original

I’m writing about the last course that I got about Visual Merchandising. This was a course of the Spanish University of Distance Education. I got it last year when I was living in Hong Kong. This course lasted 6 months and was divided in three parts.
The first one was about how to create a shop window from a theme, for example, the Christmas time or the San Valentine’s day. They teached ushow to look for the right inspiration and materials, to choose the right colors, shapes and the best lighting, and how to mantain the window.
The second part was about how to organize the merchandise in the shop with the objective of sell as much as possible.
The third part consisted in how to create a marketing plan to make sure that the brand for which you are working for is popular and known.

I’m writing about the last course that I did/finished/completed about Visual Merchandising which was a course from the Spanish University of Distance Education. I did it last year when I was living in Hong Kong. This course lasted 6 months and was divided in three parts.
The first one was about how to create a shop window from a theme, for example, Christmas or the San Valentine’s Day. They taught us how to look for the right inspiration and materials, to choose the right colors, shapes and the best lighting, and how to maintain the windows.
The second part was about how to organize the merchandise in the shop with the objective of selling as much as possible. It’s not only how to arrange/put/place the different items on the sales floor, but it is also to choose the furniture like gondolas, shelves, tables and displays and to choose the right way to place the merchandise on them. There are rules also about the size of the corridors/pathways/walkways/aisle way.

The architect firm/department is responsible for the placement of the cashier and fitting rooms but the VM can also give advice for the placement.

[next time talk about hot and cold zones]

The third part consisted in how to create a marketing plan to make sure that the brand for which you are working for is popular and well known.
