embarrassing – to cause confusion or shame

e.g. A friend of mine once took her boyfriend home to meet her parents. This boyfriend accidentally farted at the table and he was very embarrassed.

awkward – when you’re clumsy and lack grace

e.g. Tanya trips over things all the time. She’s very awkward and clumsy.

to lack something – to not have something

e.g. Tanya didn’t sleep very much yesterday, so today she lacks sleep.

raise your hand – stick your hand out over your head

e.g. In Europe we call the waiter by raising our hand.
