Last Friday I had a job interview for a Spanish company, the one my husband works for. The former Chief of Human Resources is going back to Spain and the new one has already started working in Shanghai. She wanted to meet me because she knew that I was looking for a job in fashion. We were talking for around one hour and discussed my work experience, education and other skills. She told me that it may be very difficult to find a position for me because of my lack of experience and also because I don’t speak Mandarin. She explained to me that all decisions have to be authorized in the headquarters and to do this is complicated. Also, even when the position has been authorized, the heads of departments look for people with experience. She told me that my two options are to get an internship or to work in one of their stores as a part time shop assistant. I said that I’m willing to do anything to start working in the company’s offices and she told me that she will try to find a position for me.
