I thought the main purpose of speeches in TMC is to show your presentation skills before I attended yesterday’s meeting. Last year, our club invited an experienced speaker to give us a training on how to win a speech contest. He showed us a lot of skills, so that I thought that’s all of a speech in TMC. I totally disagreed with him, I think the main purpose of an speech is to share ideas, to inspire, courage and persuade your audience to do something, while all kinds of presentation skills are help to the main goal. With these skills, you can express your ideas more efficiently and persuasion. They’re just like your cloth, if you wear correctly, it will become your advantages, but if you can’t, it will discover your disadvantages as well. Nevertheless, cloth is just cloth, it’s replaceable, while you are unique.

I totally disagreed with him, I think the main purpose of a speech is to share ideas, to inspire, encourage and persuade your audience to do something. All kinds of presentation skills support the main goal and with these skills, you can express your ideas more efficiently and persuasively. They’re just like your clothes, if you wear them correctly, they will become your advantage, but if you can’t, they will show your disadvantages and you will discover them as well. Nevertheless, clothes are just clothes, they’re replaceable, while you are unique.
