Open F2F Class notes 25th August (Eddie)

to be aware of something = to know about something

E.g.

A: There are dirty dishes in the kitchen sink.
B: Oh, I wasn’t aware of that. I’ll wash them right away.

The way how the camera moved = the way (that) the camera moves

close-up shot = a photo or video taken while the camera is zoomed in on the subject

tension = suspense, stress, anticipation

I always enjoy watching Hitchcock’s films, so I reviewed ‘Psycho’ with my friends at Friday night. Because It’s a black and white film, l treated it as an old and rough one, turns out I was totally wrong about it. The story is about a poor man who killed his own mother,but he can’t stand with the fact, finally his personality was splited and it forced him to become a murderer. And I think the actors in the film have so excellent acting even made me ignore their good lookings. And the way how camera moved made me impressed, and it showed the director really good at creating creepy atmosphere.

I always enjoy watching Alfred Hitchcock’s films, so my friends and I watched ‘Psycho’ Friday night. Because it’s a black and white film, l thought it was going to look old and rough, but it turns out I was totally wrong about it. The story is about a mentally ill man who killed his own mother, and who now cannot live with that fact. Eventually his dual personality forces him to become a murderer. I think the actors in the film give such good performances that their appearance becomes secondary. Hitchcock’s camera work is quite impressive, and it demonstrates his ability to create a creepy atmosphere.
