I have just drive from Zhejiang to Shanghai. –  I have just driven from Zhejiang to Shanghai.

I have done this before. = in the past, finished, not clear when

I did this. = in the past, finished, happened at a clear time.
Original:
When I was young, I had a dream that I wanted to be a soldier, who could took gun to defend my motherland,and my parents were totally on my side,they thought I was handsome when I was in army uniform. I believed I could be a excellent soldier as well！
When I was about to graduate from high school, I participated in arm medical examination.However I failed,because my teeth were not regular and I used to have a surgery.
In the end, my dream didn’t come true.

Edit:
When I was young, I had a dream. I wanted to be a soldier, who could take / pick up a gun to defend my motherland. My parents were totally on my side, / I had my parents’ full support / my parents supported my dream, as they thought I looked handsome in an army uniform. I believed I could be a excellent soldier as well！
