gist – basic details or summary of sth.

eg: Give e the gist of the TED talk you heard.

expectation – a thing you think will happen, or hope will happen

eg: Don’t get your expectations too high, or you will be let down.

be let down – to feel disappointed

eg: I was a little let down that we couldn’t go swimming today.

I saw  a TED talk yesterday, talking about what you don’t know about marriage. In that TED talk it said beyond disrespect dishonest and other obvious things. The researchers also tried to finger out some similarities of bliss marriages. I think the most interesting thing is don’t be the best actress of oscars. Because a lot of famous actress single soon after they take that statue home. And also it’s not just dangerous to be a good actress in a movie, it’s also dangerous to see a romantic movie which would make you marriage satisfaction to plummet. If you watch a romantic movie you will think it could happen, but it hasn’t happen and probably never happen. It makes you very sad about life. So that’s why you should choose a horror movie to protect our marriage.

The researchers also tried to figure out some similarities of blissful marriages. I think the most interesting suggestion/advice is ‘don’t be the best actor at the Oscars’. Because a lot of famous actors become single soon after they take that statue home. Also it’s not just dangerous to be a good actor in a movie, it’s also dangerous to see a romantic movie which could make your marriage satisfaction plummet. If you watch a romantic movie you will think it could be like that for you, but it hasn’t happened and probably never will. It makes you very sad about life. So that’s why you should choose a horror movie to protect your marriage.
