Vocabulary

Thriller – Similar to an action movie but with less guns and explosions. The stories are usually

Drama – when the story is based on realistic events usually with a family or love drama.

RomCom (romantic comedy)

Gripping – when something keeps your attention for a long time and you are very interested in it. (e.g. I saw a new movie the other day. I thought it was great and very gripping.)

Thrilling – similar to gripping but it gets you excited seeing it. (e.g. I saw a new movie last week. At first I thought it was only ok but then I realised that it was filmed in my home town. By the end of the movie I thought it was very thrilling.)

I could not tear my eyes off the screen – could not look away from the TV/movie screen.

I like watching movies, ROM-COMs are my favorite genre. Seeing the couple‘s love grow and when they finally get together in the end, I feel happy and wish that my husband and I can continue to feel the same and be in love forever. However, I am always busy with my work and family chores, so the only time I can go to the cinema is when I watch animation movies with my kids. I have seen many cartoon movies with them, in fact, whenever a new movie comes out, such as Zootopia, Finding Dori and Ice age, we will go watch them together. Now I find that animation movies are also very interesting.

I like watching movies, and the ROM-COM is my favorite genre.
