My last holiday was to France with my family and friends. I saw a football game in  in Lyon’s new stadium, it was an amazing moment even if very cold. I went to a lot of dinners with friends and ate delicious food, I often drank to much wine because in France all people love wine. One weekend, I traveled  to Switzerland to visit my cousin and we visited a chocolate factory. After I bought some gruyere cheese, it’s a Swiss specialty. In Switzerland people are nice and hospitable. The landscape is quiet, green or white depending on the season. I love this country.

Elena’s Writing:

During last class, Joseph and I talked about some interesting topics. We both admitted Singapore and Japan are beautiful and clean countries but there are probably different reasons for this.
As we all know, Singapore is famous for its strict laws and administrative punishments. For example, littering in public results in a huge fine. Under this  high stress environment, few people dare to break the law and feel like they have to behave themselves.
In terms of Japan, politeness and tidiness are characteristics of their culture. What made this happen? Instead of strict laws, it probably is driven by the thoughts which are deeply rooted in Japanese people’s minds. The No.1 credo of most Japanese people is to ‘make as less as trouble to others’.
Can Singapore’s or Japan’s model apply to China? This seems to be an interesting but also in-depth topic. Food for thought.
