Vocabulary

reasonable – something that makes sense

e.g. It’s reasonable to want to wash your hair after you went to the gym.

rational – logical

e.g. If you want to solve a math problem, you have to be rational about it.

space heater – a small appliance that makes the room warm up

e.g. We have a space heater in the office, for which I’m super thankful.

mascara – a cosmetic product that will make your eyelashes longer and thicker

e.g. I use mascara every day.

lip balm – a product you put on your lips to moisturise them, make them less dry

e.g. In winter, my lips crack so I have to use lip balm.

sunscreen – 防晒

e.g. You have to put sunscreen on your face in summer, otherwise your skin will burn.

foundation – 粉底液，a make-up product you put all over your face to make your face more even and sometimes even “whiter”

e.g. I put foundation on my face to look like I have a more even skin tone.

pimple – 痘痘

e.g. A lot of teenagers get pimple

eyebrow pencil – a pencil you use to draw or fill in your eyebrows

e.g. I use eyebrow pencil every day to make them look thicker.

concealer – a make-up product you use to conceal dark spots or eye circles

e.g. Concealer is one of the most important make-up products.

ketchup – western tomato sauce

e.g. A lot of people eat ketchup with their fries.

braised beef – 卤肉

e.g. I like eating rice with my braised beef, but I wouldn’t like steak with rice.

After graduating from university, I am used to life without winter break. Thanks to air conditioning, we can discuss projects and make a planning at work very warmly. But it hurts skin seriously and we are supposed to put on more skincare products to protect our skin. My work in the advertising sector often compels me to work overtime, which leads to lots of leftovers in the fridge. I generally go and buy groceries in the weekends. In my point of view, dishes cooked by myself are really scrumptious
