Speaking exercise

We went to Bangkok and also to Phuket.
This was my first time and it is really hot there.
The culture is very different from China. It was a new experience for me.

I could sense the people there have freedom.
When I travelled to Thailand I saw people use google without restrictions and people were very friendly.

we had a presentation with our global colleagues and it went smoothly.
They accepted our proposal.
We will have a follow up meeting this next week.

They also provided the minimum requirement for testing and patient enrollment.
In the follow up meeting we will further discuss. We are a little worried about the timeline, it could have a negative impact on patient enrollment. / we are worried it may delay patient enrollment

In China it is a little restricted.

It takes a lot of time to set up a central lab.
First you need to estimate if it can do qualified tests regarding our study and then the company may have a contract with the lab company. / first we evaluate if a company can match our technical requirements and then we can sign a contract with them.

Based on those docs, we can submit the application for the study in China so it takes a long time.
Besides we need the cooperation from different departments so we have a lot of internal discussions and it can be a hurdle.

I cannot give an estimated timeline because it is out of my knowledge -> it is not really my scope of work. / not really something I am familiar with.

They may have special ways to check if the test result is reliable or not and this is a technical issue so I cannot really go deeper into it.

Once we ensure the lab is technically capable / once we confirm they have the technical capability we can sign a contract.

Maybe they have choices of the central labs and we want to know their thoughts about this / maybe they have some recommendations for who to work with. / maybe they have a shortlist of central labs

We are not very familiar with the process so there is a risk.

We want to get more resources and reduce the risk.
different countries have different progress/ not all the countries are at the same stage / the trials are moving at a different pace in the different countries.

We almost want to keep it consistent with other countries. The population is kept consistent with the population of other countries like sex, stage of the disease,…

The efficacy of the study drug should be higher than other comparative arms.

The ideal situation is for both arms to have a similar situation. The baseline information is really important.

If the agency approves it it can be sold.

Before the drug can be sold we may need pre clinical data and clinical data.
We need to detect the dosage of the drug. This is really tested in phase 1 and phase 2.

the clinical trial needs a lot of cost -> clinical trials are very costly / cost a lot

The economy is not very robust than before -> The economy is not as robust as before.

We are still hiring more people so it shows the health industry is doing ok.
