she’s my roommate in the US, I studied abroad for 1 year in the US. We rented apartments together near our university. I studied in law school in Saint Louis in Washington DC. Saint Louis is one of the most dangerous cities in the US so we have to … Law school is very hard, we always study a lot and we went back to home together. usually in the midnight. I think that’s why that makes us very close because we really have some moments to become the supportive, to become the supportive person in our live.

so when we back to China, she works in Beijing and I’m in Shanghai so we don’t have too much opportunity to hang out together but we still have our connections. So she’s my maid of honour when I was married.

I studied in the US for a year and my roommate is the person that I wanted to talk about. I studied at Law school in Washington University, Saint Louis for a year. As you might not know, St Louis is one of the most dangerous cities in the US and there are a lot of crimes/robberies or even shootings happen even on our campus. In our degree, we would spend a lot of time in the libraries to study, so sometimes it was not very safe for me to go back to the apartment by myself. That’s why I think my roommate, Mia, has been so supportive and caring for me. She would always accompany me to go to places, like we would go shopping, studying, we basically did everything together.

Even though we are not living in the same city anymore after coming back to China, we were still able to maintain good friends, she was my maid of honour at my wedding.

Mia has been a really important part of my life and I appreciate her friendship with me.

What do you think are the most important qualities for your friends.  – harder

I have considered this question very carefully and my answer is

being friends, we don’t have to like the same thing, she/he has to have some certain quality. But we have to hate the same thing or hate the same person, that’s the most important thing for me.

We have to have same topic view/perspective/understanding on the same things. Because people are different, you can’t ask people to have the same hobbies with you all the time, but it might be easier for the two people to have the same thing. but it’s easier for two people to bond/connect when we have similar views/likes and dislikes.

We have to have the same topic when we are eating, when we gossip, or talk back to another person,

It is always nice to have similar views when we gossip on the same matter.

she has to stand It’s nice to have my friends sharing the same position/views/perspectives with me and be supportive. I’ll give you some examples, when I try to gossip with my friends about my work and my boss, I usually would be like I hate the guy because he is too bossy and makes my life so miserable or he is gross, and she has to be supportive. she can’t persuade me to understand what my boss doing. like you have to understand your boss because he is under so much pressure. Instead of persuading me to understand the other person, or finding excuses for him, I would want my friend to take similar views as me.

I don’t have too much standard for my friend, you can just be yourself. It took me a really long time to consider your questions and about the qualities I care but that’s it. I can get along very well with a lot of people, just because we hate the same thing, I really mean it. 

In my law firm, I have two female colleagues I can get along very well with one of them. The other one, she’s always being the same time as our boss. Let me give you an example, we had team building last week, we went to Guangzhou city together with our law firm. So we talk a lot about our boss during the trip and our boss even told us to have conference call with our clients during our trip. So me and another of my colleague talk a lot and complained a lot but the other girl, she is like this is our job, as lawyers, normal for us to work during holidays, we have to understand, it’s our responsibility to respond to our client timely.
