When i was a child, i remember the most people take buses or ride bicycles to anywhere and only few people drive cars. Many people live in a housing estate instead of alley nowadays.But authentic shanghai food become fewer and fewer. I recall my childhood, and i think it is really memorable

When I was a child, I remember that most people took buses and rode bicycles to go to places/anywhere and only few people drove cars. Many people live in apartments instead of alley nowadays. Authentic shanghai food is becoming less and less. I recall my childhood, and I think it is really memorable.

I grew up in downtown SH in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Back then, life in SH was still very slow. People biked and took the bus to go to places, nobody was rushing. Times seemed very slow when I was a child.

Another difference is the buildings. I remember the highest building in 2000 was only 30 floors and downtown SH didn’t have that many skyscrapers. Now, if you go to the Bund, you will see buildings that are over 500 meters high. In just two decades, SH has become a cosmopolitan.

Food has also changed quite a bit. I remember when I was a child, you can easily find SH food in the street. And the food was not expensive at all. Now, authentic SH food is getting harder to find. What you see everywhere is food from other parts of China and international food.
