ex: I had a gathering with an old friend.

2. tough (describe things)= difficult
tough (describe a person)= strong
ex: she is a tough girl, she can raise the family by herself.
ex: this is a tough project, I need a longer time.

3. crack jokes= joking
ex: we crack jokes among our friends.

4. distinctions (noun)= differences
distinct (adj)= a special, a unique ,ming xian de
ex: there’s no distinctions between room A and room B.
ex: there is a distinct change in her attitude after she started working here.

This is a tough question. Although it is hard to take colleagues as your bosom friends, I still think I have some very nice colleague.

do you think colleagues can also be your friends?

I think colleagues can be my friends, because I would spend least first three of the time at work. During the period of time, I need to do a lot of things with my colleagues, so we can understand each other including the personality, habits, ability and so on. We also can through some projects to get a good relationship. I chose to keep some limited area, I didn’t share anything to my colleagues. Even they have a really good relationship with me. For example, I know some friends who working in the big company for more than 15 years, even more than 20 years ago. I think about when they join the company in the 2000. If they choose the colleague and share anything to them, maybe someone will become his competitor.

I think colleagues can be my friends, because I would spend at least a third of my time at work. During the period of time, I need to do a lot of things with my colleagues, so we can understand each other including their personality, habits, ability and so on. We also can maintain a good relationship when we work on some projects. I chose to have some privacies, I don’t share everything to my colleagues, especially the important things, even if they have a really good relationship with me. For example, I know some friends who are working in a big company for more than 15 years, even more than 20 years ago. If they shared everything with their colleagues 20 years ago,  maybe he/she will become his competitor.
