Vocabulary

 

arrange – how things are put in order

ex. I want to arrange my colour pencils from light to dark colours.

spelling – when you write/say words letter by letter

ex. The spelling for cat is C-A-T.

spelling bee – a spelling competition where students have to spell out words 

doodle – draw/sketch

ex. My desk mate would doodle on every page of her notebook.

talented – you’re skilled at sth

ex. Liza is a very talented artist.

quite the contrary – quite the opposite

ex. Are you worried? No, quite the contrary.

thrilled – excited and happy

ex. Liza was thrilled to hear that Mr Jordan would help her prepare for the spelling bee.

visualise – picture something

ex. I can remember new words by visualising the pictures I drew.
