We should focus more on using the past tense correctly. This is really important because using the incorrect tense will lead to misunderstandings.

Vocabulary

normal – this word is most often used in scientific situations
The doctor said my blood pressure is normal.

ordinary – this word is most often used in everyday situations

run-of-the-mill – means ordinary

Pronunciation

when using the expression ‘run-of-the-mill’, please be careful about pronounciation the vowel in the last syllable. It should be an /ɪ/ sound not and /eɪ/ sound. If you use an ‘eɪ’ sound you are saying ‘mail’.
