In today’s class, we talked about your visit to Dodo’s kindergarten. We learned some useful vocabulary and focused on some small grammatical mistakes.

Pronunciation

flashlight – It is important to say the first vowel clearly. Use the same sound as the first vowel in ‘apple’. If you say the wrong sound, you may say ‘flesh’, which has a different meaning.

natural – There are two ways to pronounce this word. You can say na chu ril or na chril. Both are acceptable.

Grammar

Vocabulary

familiarize – to become familiar
I let him familiarize himself with the enviornment

caregiver – a person whose job is take care of people (usually the elderly or children)
There are three teachers and one caregiver.

at the corner – usually used to talk about street corners (e.g. I will meet you at the corner of White and 2nd street).
in the corner – usually used to talk about corners in places (e.g. There are some chickens in the corner).

play with himself – this has a sexual meaning and is very commonly used
play by himself – play without others
