Last Monday, April 19 is the day that Brazil celebrates the indigenous day, but frankly speaking, this day is not the most famous holiday in Brazil. However, on my way home I decided to listen to a famous left-oriented podcast that presented some recent facts concerning indigenous matters in Brazil.

On that day, indigenous leaderships organized a protest in the Federal Capital, Brasilia, and the Federal authority on Indigenous matters published a note defining the current situation in Brazil as a “setback scenario”. The Thematic Chamber, responsible for presenting the issues to the General Attorney, listed as the main concerns the lack of land demarcation and the consequences of illegal gold mining on the existed lands.
