Summer days
The early summer days make the days happiest and fairest, the Lilacs bloom make the air sweet and the bees visit the apple tree blossoms. The days grow warm and soft, the children school ends, and they have time to play and to fish trout. Fern visit the barn almost every day, to sit quietly on her stool, the animals treats her as an equal. Around first of July it’s time to reap hay and collect it. Mr. Zuckerman hitch the work horses to the mowing machine and drive to the field, whole day you hear the rattle of the machine. Fern and Avery enjoy this time to climb on the high hay wagon on the top of the load, then the barn seem a big good bed where it’s fine to jump and to hide in. Avery sometimes find bugs or grass snakes in the hay and put these in his pocket.
The early summer also is a jubilee time for birds, there are birds, nests and sounds in the field, in the barn, in the woods, in the swamp, and some flowers have nectar, another have milk, everywhere there you look is life. Finally, the goose eggs hatched, the most important event in the barn. this day Fern was there when it happened.
A day before the goose knew her goslings were coming, she heard the weak voices inside the eggs, they were desperately anxious to break their shell, but the goose was sat quiet and talked less than usual waiting the great moment. Charlotte was the first to know, and made the announcement.

Summer days
The early summer days are the best and happiest, and the Lilacs blooming makes the air sweet and the bees visit the apple tree blossoms. The days grow / become warm and soft, the childrens’ school ends, and they have time to play and to fish for trout. Fern visits the barn almost every day, to sit quietly on her stool, and (and, but, so, because, when, if) all the animals (they) treat her as an equal. Around the first of July it’s time to reap hay and collect it.
