The last weeks I have been working on two different projects: The first one is an environmental and social country system workshop (E&S CS) and the second one, a road project in Pará State, Brazil.
The E&S CS workshop is, basically, a capacity building and knowledge dissemination prepared by the NDB to engage our client in complying with either the local E&S regulation and the Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) from the NDB.
Concerning the Pará Project, is worth mentioning that the project is located in Pará State, in the Amazon Region, and aims to improve the conditions of state roads in 5 strategic macro-regions of Pará. The main components of the Project include paving 472 km of existing unpaved, constructing 3 new concrete bridges and upgrading 28 existing bridges from wooden to concrete. Due to the fact that this project is located in a highly sensitive region in terms of biodiversity and social vulnerability, the project was categorized as an A Category with substantial E&S risks. In order to mitigate the E&S adverse impacts and risks, a robust action plan was prepared by the team and presented to the senior management.
