Life is funny. I had two swollen upper eyelids on my face this Wednesday morning as I cried last night to because of pressures from my work. I was sitting in front of my computer and doing nothing. I felt disappointed and was no interesting in working on my work. In a sudden I received a zoom meeting invitation from my manager where he said having some good news to share with me and invited me to a video call in 15 minutes. It was such a short notice and I went to change clothes and sort myself out to a better state. There were two senior managers having the video call with me and they said that they wanted to thank me for my contributions by raising my base salary plus a significant number of bonus for this year, and meantime they hoped me consistently deliver good work in the future. It was a shock for me, not just a surprise, and particularly at a time when I felt so bad about myself and my work. I’ve been feeling happy since then but one thing that is most important was that I realized that it is important to keep being myself and speaking up.
